MOUNTAINEERING – 2003 Climbs
May, 2003 – Mt. Hood, Oregon
Our annual Mt Hood climb (6.7 MB). South route a few of days after a storm had dumped a fair amount of snow on the mountain. Chris picked Bob and I up at the SEATAC airport the afternoon of May 22 and we headed straight to the mountain. When we arived about 8:00 PM it was hood03.mp4 shrouded in cloud with indications of strong wind high up. But as we stood in the Timberline Lodge parking lot debating the weather up there, it cleared before our eyes. We assumed that little miracle was just for us, so we hastilty sorted and readied our gear to begin our ascent. Although additional effort was needed to break new trail through the fresh snow, it was a perfect climb. The images taken are assembled as an MPEG. It includes a little hike we did into Ramona Falls, a beautiful spot on the Pacific Crest Trail where the Sandy River cascades down one of the volcanic walls on the western slopes of Mt Hood.
